The Epic 88mm rim is the most aerodynamic rim we offer. Ideal for long flat rides, triathlons, and time trials. The Epic 88mm rim is a no-compromise wind-cheating machine.

Full Carbon Clincher.

High Strength Carbon for Lightweight Performance.

Using the latest carbon forming technology, we are able to build a very strong rim from carbon only. A critical area for durability, the tire bead hook of the EPIC clincher rim is up 73% stronger than other carbon clincher rims. This gives you a wheel that is very light, with positive braking performance, and reliable durability.

Extra Wide 27mm Rim

Increased Aerodynamics and Improved Handling.

The extra wide rim has multiple benefits. The rim's 27mm max width improves aerodynamics by creating a more uniform airflow over the wheel - balancing the aerodynamic forces of the rim with the leading edge of the tire. The 25mm width at the tire mount and braking surface spread the tire out, which creates a wider contact patch between the tire and the road (resulting in improved handling and reduced rolling resistance). The 25mm outer rim also allows the wheel to fit into most frame and brake setups.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Airflow Simulation

The Tokyowheel Elliptic-Toroidal rim shape reduces Aerodynamic drag by matching the spoke side of the rim to the round shape of a tire. This elliptical shape makes the leading edge and the trailing edge of the rim more symmetric. Our CFD aerodynamic simulations have validated that this Elliptic-Toroidal shape provides more uniform airflow, and reduced drag over the primary Yaw angles between 0 to 20 degrees.

They look fantastic, no driving experience yet.... - Beautiful wheels. Light weight. Shipment took longer than expected and published but that was not an issue. Email communication was good and fast. Wheels do come from China, not Japan. To bad they don't come with wheel bags.

88mm carbon clincher - Hi, I just received the wheels two days ago and they look amazing, didn't have the chance to ride them yet since there's a lot of snow down here in Montreal, but as soon as I do, I'll do a test report. I would have to admit, I wasn't so sure about purchasing the wheelset since tokyowheel is not really mainstream and haven't seen anyone with those wheels, but i have to say just by looking at them, they are worth every penny. They look stiff, strong and they are in perfect conditions. I would quote another reviewer, the service you get by James Ferrer is uncomparable to any other company. I asked many many questions and he always responded me with professionalisism the same day or the day after if it was late, you don't get that everywhere. I won't compare the wheels to any other well known brand simply because it's my first pair of carbon clincher, but I can assure that the price comparision says a lot, for a pair of zipp you would pay like 2500$+ more for the pair or enve 8.9 that are 4000$. I definetly recommand and thank you again for your help James!

Epic 88 carbon clincher wheelset - I purchased a set of the Epic 88mm Carbon Clincher Wheelset with Lighter Ceramic 4 Bearing Hubs + Sapim Cx-Ray Spokes & SILS Nipples. Wheels very stiff, nice looking, spin very fast & I'm super impressed with how well they ride & good they feel on the road.These wheels have been nothing but impressive! They spin up fast and seem to even pick up speed on the hills faster than some of the other big name carbon rims I've tried. Handling is responsive and crisp in the corners thanks to the advancements in wider rims. The integrity and quality of this product and the company so far have been awesome. And will confide in this company for further purchases. I should had order the off set Epic 60-88mm Carbon Clincher Wheelset. It was Recommended to me by my mechanic and he also a riders. He said that it would have giving me the most aerodynamic all around. I feel the cross wind on the front but all in all am happy with my purchase, next order I would get the off set.

EPIC 808 - Wheels are good and customer services also good! Only the valve extensions, seems not suitable to put at thur hole at wheels even wrong at second replacement. Really need investigate any wrong at size at manufactory process.

Optimum for everyday training! - They do the job well. The main reazon I've got the Epic 88 (standard hubs) is because I was looking for a wheelset for training that could simulate a similar condition of a race day. Those wheels offer a good quality finish, and good aerodynamic. I think it is a good choice for who want a wheelset for training. For races, if your pocket is full, they are not the best! The only matter here was the delivery that took much longer than the promised 14 days. I had to pay customs taxes (shipped to Brazil), but Tokyowheels refunded the 110% immediately.

Got the Epic 88 Clincher - I'm from Brazil and just bought the Epic 88 Clincher. First of all, costumer service was excellent. Usually took less than 24hours to answer any doubt i have. Wheelset arrived in less then a month and unfortunately for Brazilian people it´s nearly impossible to avoid customs. I rode the wheels for about 200km so far only and they are awesome. You could clearly see aero advantage and able to hold top speed on flats a little easier. Will buy another wheelset on future for sure if prices are still attractive to a point that it´s still worth paying the customs.
