The Epic 88mm rim is the most aerodynamic rim we offer. Ideal for long flat rides, triathlons, and time trials. The Epic 88mm rim is a no-compromise wind-cheating machine.
Full Carbon Clincher. High Strength Carbon for Lightweight Performance.
Using the latest carbon forming technology, we are able to build a very strong rim from carbon only. A critical area for durability, the tire bead hook of the EPIC clincher rim is up 73% stronger than other carbon clincher rims. This gives you a wheel that is very light, with positive braking performance, and reliable durability.
Extra Wide 27mm Rim Increased Aerodynamics and Improved Handling.
The extra wide rim has multiple benefits. The rim's 27mm max width improves aerodynamics by creating a more uniform airflow over the wheel - balancing the aerodynamic forces of the rim with the leading edge of the tire. The 25mm width at the tire mount and braking surface spread the tire out, which creates a wider contact patch between the tire and the road (resulting in improved handling and reduced rolling resistance). The 25mm outer rim also allows the wheel to fit into most frame and brake setups.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Airflow Simulation
The Tokyowheel Elliptic-Toroidal rim shape reduces Aerodynamic drag by matching the spoke side of the rim to the round shape of a tire. This elliptical shape makes the leading edge and the trailing edge of the rim more symmetric. Our CFD aerodynamic simulations have validated that this Elliptic-Toroidal shape provides more uniform airflow, and reduced drag over the primary Yaw angles between 0 to 20 degrees.

The 3 degree angled Aero Braking Surface improves the overall aerodynamics of the wheel by: smoothing the interface between the tire and the rim, reducing net drag on the rim in crosswinds, and adding to the elliptical symmetry of the wheel.

14-21 days is our estimated delivery window. We make this window 95% of the time. If you have an event coming up or something we can put a rush on the order. This means it will be processed preferentially where possible, which will shave a few days off the lead time.
We include the correct length valve extenders for every order. If you prefer to not use extenders and go with longer tube valve stems please be aware that the exact valve length required can be affected by your pump head. With most pumps you should be safe with 15mm of valve left showing out of the rim and some work with as little as 12mm.

I'm from Brazil and just bought the Epic 88 Clincher. First of all, costumer service was excellent. Usually took less than 24hours to answer any doubt i have. Wheelset arrived in less then a month and unfortunately for Brazilian people it´s nearly impossible to avoid customs. I rode the wheels for about 200km so far only and they are awesome. You could clearly see aero advantage and able to hold top speed on flats a little easier. Will buy another wheelset on future for sure if prices are still attractive to a point that it´s still worth paying the customs.
